Hard Working and Determined to Make a Difference

Practical Midwestern Roots

My wife Beth and I grew up in the Midwest. I was fortunate to meet Beth while we attended Purdue (Go Boilermakers!). Beth is a Farmer's Daughter, and I was the kid who grew up in a mill town on the south side of Chicago (we could literally tell the direction of the wind in Whiting from the smell in the air). Beth and I have been married for 36 years and have two kids (Rachel & Echo), who are both also graduates of Purdue. Beth has a Bachelor of Science in Math and taught high school math. I hold a Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from the University of Chicago. We still own Beth's family farm in  Indiana, where a long-standing friend is a partner in our small farm business...we grow soybeans and corn.

Driven, Hard Working

I grew up in very modest means in Whiting, Indiana. As a latchkey kid, both of my parents worked hard, and my sister and I took care of ourselves after school while helping to finish chores and prepare dinner for when our parents got home. This experience instilled in me a deep appreciation for the value of hard work. I've held at least one job since I was 10, working through grade school and high school, often juggling two or three jobs at a time. Paperboy, short order cook, janitor, and even selling vacuum cleaners, if there was a job opening I've probably tried it—industriousness was in the DNA of my town. Growing up as the runt of the group, I wasn't athletic (I'm quite clumsy), and I was often viewed as a bit of an underdog which helped shape me. I am tenacious, always fighting for what I believe in and for those I care about. This same spirit of determination is what drives my run for Needham Select Board, a desire to get off the couch and help when there is a job to do and I feel I can make a difference.

Midwestern Family heads East..

Beth and I moved to Westborough, MA, back in 2006, when I took a job at Boston Scientific as their Global CIO.  I had previously been a Partner at Accenture in Chicago. Life as a consultant at Accenture meant constant travel, so we relocated to Boston so I could spend less time on the road and more time with our family. Westborough was a terrific place to raise our kids, but after our kids graduated, we noticed that most of our friends and neighbors left town. We decided to move closer to where our kids lived, exploring towns near Rt128/I95.

So Glad to be in Needham...

We spent a good bit of time looking at towns in this area that had a town center, towns where you could own a home and walk into town for a meal or an errand. We were searching for towns that had an identity, a great school system, and a diverse population. After several visits to Needham, we decided to buy a home here in 2023. The downtown was so much more vibrant than what we had in Westborough, and the folks we met while trying out the restaurants in Needham were friendly and proud of their community. We love that Needham has a strong school system, a very active community, great parks, busy fields, and is a place where we can get around without a car. It is the perfect setting for the next chapter in our lives.

Beth is now retired, and I have my own business, Esito LLC.  I founded Esito 8 years ago, Esito provides Technology and Cybersecurity advisory services to Private Equity funds.  My business has a team of 6 people, and we support over 180 companies across several private equity funds.  I am proud to be a resident of Needham and believe I can contribute positively to our town government. I want to ensure that our voices are represented on the Needham Select Board, this is why I am running for Select Board.   I hope to earn your vote to bring change to the Select Board.
